Good morning! It’s 54 degrees. Time to break out the Blundy’s, shake the dust out of my flannels, and prepare for fall.
It’s been a hectic week. It started with a not-so-fun (but needed) visit to my orthopedist. Thankfully, my ACL is in tact. Sadly, the calf muscle on my non-surgery leg was overcompensating for so long that the muscle gave out. Post calf strain I’ve experienced pins & needle sensations running up and down my leg and an electric burning sensation. It’s called “peroneal neuritis.” Important reminder: healing isn’t linear!
I flew to Cincinnati on Friday and was very happy to take the day off and explore The Queen City before a cousin’s wedding on Saturday. I stayed in Over-the-Rhine and walked all over downtown, the Bank, Oakley, and Findlay Market. My brother, Dad, and I even made some time to check out the really cool Picasso Landscapes: Out of Bounds exhibit at the Cincinnati Art Museum. If you’re in town I highly recommend! We dove back up to Cleveland on Sunday and I’m excited to see / connect with some family while in town.
Other Things / Reads:
Do you ever pick up a book and then 150 pages in realize now is NOT the time to read said book? I am saddened to report this is what happened with My Brilliant Friend by Elena Ferrante. I know I’m going to pick it up again soon, but for now I need to place it back on the TBR. In all truthfulness, I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump. I’ve been to the bookstore three+ times and I leave empty handed thinking “meh…” These slumps come and go—I think this particular slump is a direct cause of me pushing hard to hit 50. When I accomplished my goal my body and brain needed a break/release. All that to say, I did pick up Brooklyn by Colm Tóibín and read 10 pages. Will I continue? Who can never be sure.
Thanks for joining, hope you have a wonderful week :)

P.S. Snaps
Drinks with my lovely friend Caroline Campbell who was in Chicago for a wedding. She mistakenly thought I was flying to Sicily for a wedding… when I was flying to Cincinnati. Laughter abounded.
If you’re ever in Cincinnati, check out The Bagelry in OTR. So good I had it twice while in town.
Cute bookstore snaps
Warning: Walking to the Cincinnati Art Museum requires climbing MANY stairs. Worth it! Got my exercise in for the day, that’s for sure.
